Job Summary

Dimond Vision Clinic is seeking a full-time Optometric Technician for our Anchorage, Alaska location. Responsibilities include gathering patient medical history, conducting diagnostic testing, helping patients with insertion and removal of contact lenses,explaining insurance benefits to patients, and communicating with doctors, staff, and patients. This is a cross-trainable position that may include additional job responsibilities, such as reception, verification of insurances, billing clerk, etc.

  • Attendance and dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.
  • Communication and contact: The employee communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the practice; able to effectively provide training to patients.
  • Relationships with others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others Including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Knowledge of materials and pricing: Must be familiar with every contact lens used in the office, the manufacturer, the available parameters, and their clinical uses, as well as proper contact lens solutions for their care. Must be familiar with the contact lens fees in the office so the patient can be charged the correct amount for the contact lens service, contact lenses, and solution.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand extended periods of time; walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


Qualifications
  1. Preferred but not required: At least one year’s experience as an Optometric technician
  2. Must have computer skills and the ability to learn EMR system
  3. Strong ability to multi-task with high degree of accuracy, attention to detail a must
  4. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  5. Superior verbal and written skills
  6. Strong interpersonal skills essential
  7. Able to transition and think operationally
