The DeVetter Law Firm is a fast growing criminal record mitigation and probate litigation firm located in Savannah’s beautiful historic district. With Forsyth Park right outside our door, our office environment is friendly and fast-paced. 

We are looking for a talented Expungement Paralegal on a full-time basis to manage our expungement and pardon processes from start to finish while delivering a high level of customer service. At the present time the job will be 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri, with potential work from home options.

You will be responsible for:

  • Converting callers from lead to client
  • Drafting letters, motions and other legal documents
  • Achieving an average case flow of 90 - 120 days for processing

This position requires diligent time management practices for proactive follow-through with court clerks, prosecutors, solicitors, and judges for the purpose of scheduling hearings when expungements are denied or a hearing is requested. Strong communication (both written and verbal), efficient case management, along with keen analytical thinking are also integral to success in this role.

Our ideal Candidate must:

  • One (1) year of work experience, preferably in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal services.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree may substitute the required work experience.
    • A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
    • A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and monitor the progress of cases while keeping the team informed
  • Maintain detailed notes in client records
  • Troubleshoot blockages that prevent the timely progress of case flow
  • Prioritize customer experience and case flow accordingly
  • Manage deadlines by setting reminders and status updates for team members
  • Collaborate with team members to move issues to resolution
  • Communicate daily with clients throughout the intake and active case process at the direction of support staff to assist in case workflows
  • Work to create systems that promote efficiency in the firm's procedure

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Preferable experience in court operations or in the field of criminal justice, parole and/or probation, legal services.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe, and Google Suite
  • Experience with drafting letters, motions and other legal documents
  • Past performance working in a high-pressure environment, at a fast pace, while maintaining quality and error free work
  • Able to work independently

Preferred Requirements:

  • Criminal background preferred
  • One (1) year of work experience| Bachelor’s Degree | Paralegal/Associates Degree | Paralegal Certificate
  • Great communicator able to set clear objectives and follow through
  • Self accountability
