The DeVetter Law Firm is a fast growing criminal record mitigation and probate litigation firm located in Savannah’s beautiful historic district. With Forsyth Park right outside our door, our office environment is friendly and fast-paced.

We are looking for a highly-motivated Associate Attorney to join our small team. This is a work from home position with occasional court appearances and travel to the home office in Savannah.  We aim to provide an excellent experience for both our clients and our employees and are looking for an attorney who believes in our mission and cares about our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in criminal prosecution or defense as well as civil litigation and a desire for systemic change. They will work closely with team members to guide our clients through the process of their probate or expungement case and secure timely and positive achievement of the client’s goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing a wide range of criminal record mitigation cases including motions to restrict and seal, retroactive first offender, pardons, early probation termination, and other similar motions
  • Assisting with contested probate litigation
  • Communicating with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in the case
  • Preparing and file legal documents
  • Representing clients in mediation and court
  • Continuously update clients on case progress
  • Meeting deadlines and manage a high volume of cases
  • Maintaining a positive relationship with clients

This position requires fastidious time management practices for proactive follow-through with court clerks, prosecutors, solicitors, and judges. Strong communication (both written and verbal), efficient case management, along with keen analytical thinking are integral to success in this role.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Track and monitor the progress of cases while keeping the team informed
  • Maintain detailed notes in client records
  • Troubleshoot blockages that prevent the timely progress of case flow
  • Prioritize customer experience and case flow accordingly
  • Manage deadlines by setting reminders and status updates for team members
  • Collaborate with team members to move issues to resolution
  • Communicate daily with clients throughout active case process at the direction of support staff to assist in case workflow
  • Work to create systems that promote efficiency in the firm's procedure

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Licensed attorney in the State of Georgia
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Valid Georgia State driver's license
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Proficient experience in criminal prosecution or defense as well as civil litigation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), Adobe, and Google Suite
  • Experience with drafting letters, motions and other legal documents
  • Past performance working in a high-pressure environment, at a fast pace, while maintaining quality and error free work
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Requirements:

  • Criminal background preferred
  • At least five (5) years experience in criminal prosecution or defense as well as civil litigation
  • Digital fluency and tech proficiency
  • Self-accountability

We provide a competitive salary, which is based on experience. Our current salary range is between $70,000 to $80,000. Additionally, we offer unlimited paid time off and a flexible schedule. This position is intended to be a full-time remote job, except for court appearances and occasional visits to our team in Savannah. However, we are open to discussing a part-time arrangement in detail.
