Central Washington Railroad has a Maintenance of Way Supervisor position available in Yakima.
Essential duties & responsibilities include the following – other duties may be assigned.
- Railroad track workers build, maintain, and repair track.
- They will be handling, installing, positioning and moving materials.
- Operating vehicles, mechanized devices or equipment.
- Inspecting structures or material to identify problems or defects.
Maintenance of Way Supervisor will monitor performance goals relative to availability, reliability, production targets, safety, and cleanliness. Supervise, assign, evaluate, and counsel personnel while also reporting and taking direction from Managers.
- Backhoe operation knowledge is a plus
- Candidates must be willing to learn
- Maintenance of Way experience preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to handle heavy parts and tools, while standing for long periods. Employee is regularly and frequently required to walk, climb, lift, balance, stoop, bend, kneel and crouch several times a day. The employee is frequently required to lift large and heavy tools and objects and would need to be able to lift 40-50 lbs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Safety equipment is provided.
All the work performed is in rough terrain. This employee must walk through sand, gravel, mud, snow and ice, large rock, debris and weeds, all of which create a substantial stumbling hazard. The terrain is rough, sloped and has some steep side grades. In general, the footing is continually poor. This job must be performed every day and in any form of weather.
